Interior design - apartment
A personal refuge
Located in Lausanne, this 116m² apartment was imagined as more than a place to live — it was designed as a personal refuge, shaped around wellbeing, identity and meaningful everyday experiences.
Created for a single professional moving into a rental apartment, the project focused on fully furnishing and transforming an open-plan space into a home that felt deeply personal, balanced and connected to his lifestyle.
The apartment offered generous proportions and a strong architectural identity. Open and continuous spaces created a remarkable sense of freedom, while exposed wooden beams and inclined ceilings brought character and warmth. Yet these same architectural features also created one of the project’s main challenges.
The low and sloped ceiling areas generated spaces with reduced height and limited the use of traditional furniture solutions. Combined with the fully open layout, the challenge became not only how to optimize every square meter, but how to structure the apartment intelligently while preserving openness and visual harmony.
The project approached these constraints as opportunities.
Rather than dividing spaces through walls, bespoke solutions and carefully designed furniture were used to create intuitive transitions between work, rest, social moments and contemplation. Every intervention was designed to maximize functionality while naturally adapting to the architecture.
Guided by the principles of circadian lighting and wellbeing, light became an essential design element. Following the rhythm of the body and natural cycles, lighting was carefully considered to energize daily routines while creating softer atmospheres for moments of relaxation and comfort.
Wood, natural fabrics, MDF elements and greenery introduced warmth, texture and softness throughout the interiors. Functional furniture solutions and tailor-made storage strategies optimized every area while maintaining visual fluidity.
More than an apartment design project, this became an exercise in creating balance.
A place where work and rest coexist naturally. Where every moment finds its place — concentration, connection or stillness.
Beyond aesthetics, this is a project about wellbeing, identity and feeling fully at home.
